Recap: Mint Cannabis Charity Basketball Tournament

The cannabis industry shows up to hoop for a good cause.

LAVEEN, Ariz.—Last weekend, hoop heads from all over the Valley converged upon the Corona Ranch grounds in Laveen, Arizona, when the Mint Cannabis Charity Basketball Tournament got underway. As the name suggests, the event was hosted by Mint Cannabis, who, in the spirit of the oncoming season of giving, are donating the proceeds of the tournament to Cloud Covered Streets, a fantastic local non-profit organization that focuses on providing our houseless neighbors with showers, laundry services, haircuts and employment assistance.

During the event, Trap Culture, along with our friends at GreenPharms and Mad Terp Labs, took to the court to do battle with some of the best (and biggest) bong-blasting ballers around. In addition to our aforementioned cluster of teams, the event boasted some of the most popular brands around, from Shango, Alien Labs and 22 Red to Trendsetters, STIIIZY, Jeeter and many, many more.

The event was as much centered around the tournament as it was the unification of the cannabis community, members of which were all seemingly elated to be spending time with one another. Indeed, the camaraderie and joyous vibes stretched beyond brand names and affiliations.

By the end of the day, there could only be one champion, and that distinction went to Trendsetters, who were consistently dominant their entire way through the championship bracket.
